Ohio University Bobcat Jersey Pillow

My 4 year old son is a huge fan of the Ohio University Bobcats. He wears his adult sized Bobcat baseball hat almost all the time. He really likes the emblem more than anything, I think. Anyway, he had this jersey shirt passed down to him from his sister, and they have since both outgrown it. I've been meaning to make it into a pillow for a while. My Mother's Day gift was a new sewing machine, and I wanted to play with it! So, since this shirt was a jersey, and I didn't have a pillow insert at home, I quick sewed and stuffed a small 10x10 pillow. Then, cutting off the arms, and making the shape of the pillow case, I sewed it up. The bottom is pretty raw, but it's for my 4 year old and doesn't have to withhold through time or anything....and it's a small pillow...but, now he can make some use out of the old jersey....if he decides he likes it! Ha!

Mother in Law Mother's Day Gift

I was looking for an excuse to try out this Pinterest idea:

Using tissue paper and markers, draw an image, and heating it, transfer it to a candle. Art work on a candle, GENIUS!

Here's the link to my original source:

Check the link out for the tutorial, and below, the masterpieces my kids and I came up with. I hope she enjoys them:

Savannah's Afghan

I've been busy, but I just have a lot of projects going on that I cannot post about until their recipient receives them. But, one thing I have been working on are afghans for my kiddos. After I made the one for my niece, my kids both said they wanted one.  Savannah has asked for a rainbow one. I decided to do individual granny squares this time, and was all set to do each color of the rainbow for each square, but she picked out this variegated color yarn, so that's what I'm using.

When I went to my Crochet/Knit group, I was asking about binding it together so that it had some pizazz..  There really wasn't an easy way. I wanted to use black to make her yarn stand out. It looks to me like each square threw up color! Anyway, the group leader found another square idea in a book and I'm going with that. So, with no more further ado, here's  a sneak peak.....

The top one is a close up on the secondary square design.
The second one is first go at how it will look
pieces together. Doesn't it really make the colors pop?

This is as far as I've gotten as of June 1st, 2012. I really love how it is coming together!
