A Great-Grandma's Christmas Present

This is the template for my husband's grandma's Christmas present. Her 6th great-grandchild was born a month ago,  I am going to have my daughter help me embroider this. I want to make it into an arm chair pincushion, but we'll see what it ends up being.

I went with an armchair pincushion. I am becoming addicted  to making these!

Howard Wolowitz

I never used to be a fan of Howard Wolowitz on Big Bang Theory. I used to really not enjoy scenes he was in. Until....until he met Bernadette. Until they formed a relationship. So, when he became an astronaut, and went out into space, and I saw this:

I decided absolutely needed someone to make me a patch, and I think I want it as a ball cap. I'm not really a ball cap type of person, but when the sun was in my eyes during my daughter's soccer games, I knew I needed one, and what better than a one-of-a-kind H. Wolowitz astronaut name tag?

I found someone on Etsy that makes patches, and showed her the image, and she said she could make it. I am so excited!

I'll definitely add a new post when I receive it and make my hat. Can't wait!!

Falling For Autumn Swap Rd 2--What I received

I had the privilege of having kbrison as my swap partner. She was an amazing partner, and I am proud to say she is becoming my friend. After just a few days of being partnered, I felt she knew my Pinterest better than myself!

She's even been working on a few items for my kids which she hasn't quite completed yet, but they were extras anyway. She said she doesn't get much chance to craft for kids, and wanted to.  Besides these things, she also sent me a kit to help me make fabric balls, and some stickers and things for my kiddos, as well as her old Girl Scouts scarves...since I'm now a leader of my daughter's Daisy troop.  Thanks kbrison. You're the best!

I followed the UPS truck home, knowing I was expecting not 1, but two boxes from her. Oh my!

I would have been happy to have received just this amazing purse and cute pumpkin needle book. I can't wait to start using them!

But wait, there's more! And this was directly off my Pinterest, except I deleted that, since I now how THIS super cute Autumn decoration. And, that friends, explains the two boxes.

Savannah's First Embroidery

I've been working on an embroidery project at home, and I thought it would be the perfect time to introduce hand embroidery to my six year old daughter.   So, I got out my 3" hoop, drew a heart, and got her some heavy floss, and showed her the ropes of how to do the back stitch. She immediately caught on, wanted to make another heart.  Then, today (the next day), I drew her a stick figure girl, and a pumpkin on another scrap fabric. Then, we pulled out a fabric with a design, and I traced a daisy and the words, I'm a Girl Scout Daisy. She did about 3 petals, and her hands got tired, but I'm sure she'll pick it back up soon. She's an embroidery fanatic now! It's fun to sit and do needlework with her!  I think I'm going to commission her to help me make Christmas presents! LOL

Anyway, here's a pic of her first two embroidery...prepare to be amazed!

Falling For Autumn Swap Rd 2--what I made

I have been organizing Round 2 of the Craftster, Falling for Autumn Swap, and it's been lots of fun.

I was partnered with kbrison, an amazingly fun, and very nice woman. I've very much enjoyed my time being partnered with her!  We had very similar wish lists, and so I decided to make her a wreath and a table runner.

She had a lot of quilted things on her pinterest, but when I came across a VERY extensive pattern for a crocheted doily-type table runner, I went that route instead.  And, while I only did 2 of the 3 motifs, and skipped the frilly border, it came out amazing, and she loves  it.

And, it only took me 30+ hours to make! Yes, that's oh, 10x or so the minimal requirement for a large item in a craft swap.

The Table Runner in all it's glory!

The adorable wreath!--I'm thinking of making myself one!
